Arrival by airplane
From Euroairport Basel Mulhouse (approx. 60km to Freiburg):
On arrival make sure to use the French exit (not the Swiss one) to leave the airport. There is a shuttle bus service from the airport to Freiburg's main railway station. The trip takes about 50 minutes. Bus time table: http://www.freiburger-reisedienst.de/en/airportbus/timetable.php.
From Frankfurt airport (approx. 230km to Freiburg):
Follow the signs towards "Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof" ("Frankfurt Airport Long Distance Railway Station"). Traveling to Freiburg im Breisgau takes about 2 hours by IC/ICE train.

Arriving by railway
From Freiburg railway station (Hauptbahnhof) go by foot 5 minutes via Stefan-Meier-Strasse to the Natural Sciences Campus (“Institutsviertel”).
Arriving by car
You can easily reach Freiburg by highway from Basel, Mulhouse, Strasbourg, or Karlsruhe. To the Natural Sciences Campus (“Institutsviertel”) exit „Freiburg Mitte“ - then exit „Hauptbahnhof“ - Schnewlinstrasse - drive by the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) - Stefan-Meier-Strasse; use off-campus parking spaces.
Shuttle to Basel
By railway, bus or private car.
